This webinar explores the key role of building renovation in meeting EU energy and climate targets, focusing on Energy Performance Contracts (EPCs) and how innovative financing, through lending and equity crowdfunding, can bridge the financing gap. Despite progress, challenges such as limited funding and a lack of standardized financing models persist. Crowdfunding offers a citizen-driven solution, as shown by Ener2Crowd’s success in mobilizing millions for sustainable projects across Italy and Spain. We’ll discuss the impact, best practices, and barriers of crowdfunding, including regulatory gaps, as well as the importance of stable policies to scale these models. The session will also present crowdfunding in the LEGOFIT EU project, which involves residents in renovation decisions and introduces energy-performance-based interest rates to boost sustainable investments.
