What’s known by “CAEs” in Spain refers to the current Energy Saving Certificates, a mechanism of the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition that rewards final energy savings (1 kWh = 1 CAE) to companies and individuals who invest in energy efficiency, converting those savings into an “asset” that can be sold to companies with savings obligations, thereby financing investments and decarbonizing the economy.
