International ESCO Symposium 2024 – Logistical Information

Venue

The International ESCO Symposium will be held on May 29th at the UNESCO House, housing the UNESCO Headquarters in the heart of Paris.

The entrance to the UNESCO House is located at 7, place de Fontenoy

The event will take place in the Conference Room IX.

  • Please note that you will be required to show a valid photo ID upon arrival at the venue.
  • You will need to register at the Fontenoy entrance upon arrival.
    • You will be provided with a Conference badge. For security purposes, the Conference badge is required to gain entry to the UNESCO premises during the Conference and must be visibly worn at all times.
    • Your registration, security check and participation in the event require you to have registered in the event’s registration system and provided the correct personal information, matching the information in your photo ID at the entrance.

All areas at UNESCO Headquarters are accessible to people with reduced mobility. Do not hesitate to contact reception staff if necessary. Lifts can be found in Ségur Hall

Voltage: The power plug sockets are of type E, and the standard voltage is 230 V

Travel & Accommodation

Please note that attendees will be fully responsible for their own accommodation and travel expenses.

Travel requirements

Participants are responsible for their own visas to enter France.

Please consult the French authorities regarding visa and other entry requirements.

Arriving by air

Paris is served by three airports:

  • Charles de Gaulle Airport – Paris’s main international airport. Located approximately 1-hour distance from the venue.
  • Orly Airport – Paris’s second international airport. Located approximately 50 minutes distance from the venue by car, and 1 ½ hour distance by public transport.
  • Beauvais-Tillé Airport – The airport of Beauvais, located approximately 2 hours distance from the venue, mainly serves as an airport for budget airlines.

Arriving from the airports

By Taxi

From Charles de Gaulle the journey to UNESCO Headquarters and surrounding hotels will take approximately 1 hour in normal traffic. A taxi flat fare to UNESCO Headquarters is €62 from Charles de Gaulle airport.

From Paris-Orly the journey to UNESCO Headquarters and surrounding hotels will take approximately 1 hour in normal traffic. A taxi flat fare to UNESCO Headquarters is €35 from Paris-Orly airport.

From Paris – Beauvais airport the journey to UNESCO Headquarters and surrounding hotels will take approximately 1 and a half hour in normal traffic. Taxi fares are approximately €185 per trip at the daytime rate and €230 at the night rate.

By public transport

From Charles de Gaulle, RER B (two stations within the airport zone: Terminal 1 and 3, and Terminal 2 -TGV) will connect you to the Paris metro system in approx. 40 mins. Cost: €11.45.

From Paris-Orly, ORLYVAL + RER B will connect you to the Paris metro system in approx. 30 mins. Cost €14.10.

From Paris – Beauvais airport, Shuttle buses (line A01) will connect you to the Paris metro system in approximately 1h 30 mins to 2h. Cost €16.9

By Bus

The lines 28, 80, 82 and 86 stop in the vicinity of the Venue at the stops:

  • Duquesne – Lowendal, line 28 and 86
    7 min walk to UNESCO Headquarters

By Bike

The Vélib’ Metropole provides 20,000 bikes in self-service, also available with electric assistance. Docking points can be found throughout Paris. You can use them with or without a subscription. The closest docking point to UNESCO Headquarters is located at n° 15009 Suffren, 140 Avenue de Suffren. 6-minute walk to UNESCO Headquarters.
